Melanie Wong Designs Bamboo Cotton Face Masks to Help Stop COVID-19
Local Toronto designer Melanie Wong has organized a drive-thru face mask shop that allows individuals to pick up protective gear in the safest manner possible. Melanie Wong has repurposed her warehouse to do so.
The face mask shop initiative is launched as a response to the growing worry about the COVID-19 pandemic and the shortage of various medical supplies—ventilators, hand sanitizers, and face masks being on top of that list. Melanie Wong created the masks out of bamboo cotton which is an antibacterial fabric, temperature regulatory, hypoallergenic, UV-resistant, and natural. Available in two sizes (one for adults and one for kids), the Toronto-based designer is donating the masks to community and front-line workers.
Melanie Wong is also the founder of Olive + Splash—a fashion label that is known for its unisex athleisure clothing.
